Ann Curry

Ann Curry was born in the United States and is an accomplished photographer as well as a journalist. Over the past forty-five years she has focused her work on reporting human suffering, primarily when natural catastrophes or war are occurring. Curry was a reporter for wars from Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry is a journalist anchorperson for television, reporter and anchorperson she was born 1956. Her most well-known work is on Today the program, which is a National Broadcasting Co. morning newscast. Curry gained notoriety for her reporting of human rights crises, natural disasters and other emergencies which occurred in war-ravaged areas. Curry's mom is Japanese and her father was an American Navy Sailor. The couple met when their father was in Japan after World War II. Because of the military service of her father, the family moved several times. Curry completed high school within Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated from the University of Oregon awarded her the degree of bachelor of arts in journalism. She was exposed to diverse cultures and situations throughout her childhood is likely to have influenced the compassion in her approach to issues of international significance. Curry along with her husband were frequently moving which is why she could not be in a single school for more than 2 years. She and her husband travelled to numerous areas like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. Her first job would lead to a lucrative career by working as an intern in broadcasting for KTVL Channel 10 Medford. The first female news correspondent at this station at the age of 22. In the following years, she worked as an anchor/reporter at KGW in Portland Oregon. Then, four years later, she relocated into Los Angeles and became a journalist at KCBS TV. It was during her association with this channel for 6 years that she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
